Sight Seeing with Splishy Splash
June-29-10
You are invited to “Sight Seeing with Splishy Splash” Nature Walk on Tuesday, June 29 and Wednesday, June 30 at the Basseterre Valley Aquifer. A tent will be set up on the verge along the Kim Collin Highway next to the path leading to the partially renovated Sugar Mill. At any point after 2:30 p.m., on both days, the coordinators as well as possibly some of the the Grade 5 students will make themselves available to answer questions pertaining to the Nature Walk. The concept for “Sightseeing with Splishy Splash” involves inviting five (5) students, from the Grade 5 classes of the primary schools and from the Special Education Unit to take part. They will be given an orientation under a tent along the Kim Collins Highway, then walk to the partially renovated sugar mill where they will be given a short presentation on the link between the sugar cane roots and the water going into the aquifer. They will then walk to a Water Services well and be given another presentation on how water is extracted from the Aquifer and the importance of the Aquifer itself. They will then return to the tent on the Kim Collins Highway for departure where they will be told about the Project itself. The entire Nature Walk should take about one (1) hour.
